Downloading Feed the Beast Modpacks With Twitch

In this article, we'll be teaching you how to install modpacks using the Twitch App. Pretty much any Minecraft modpack out there today uses the Twitch App to install itself, run, update, and do pretty much everything else. We're also going to be showing you some of the things about managing Minecraft modpacks on the Twitch App as well as just go over Minecraft on the Twitch App in general.

How To Download & Install Minecraft Modpacks Using The Twitch App

Step 1) Download The Twitch App for Minecraft Modpacks

First things first, we'll need to download the Twitch App. You can get to the official Twitch App for Minecraft Modpacks download page by clicking the yellow button above or by clicking here. You will then be taken off to the Twitch App for Minecraft Modpacks download page. Here you'll see all of the different platforms you can download the Twitch App on. We're going to be using Windows for this tutorial, but the process is similar on Mac and Linux as well. Thus, we're going to go ahead and click the button that says 'Download for Windows' under the big Windows/Microsoft logo. At that point, your download will begin. You may have to keep the file on Google Chrome or save the file on Mozilla Firefox.

Step 2) Install The Twitch App for Minecraft Modpacks

Once the Twitch App is downloaded, it's time to get it installed. To do this, just double-click on it. From here, it's a very easy and quick program to install. Just click on the purple install button, it'll go through install and open up the Twitch app. Now, once the Twitch app is open you will need to log into your Twitch account. Yes, you do need a Twitch account to be able to install modpacks using the Twitch Launcher. If you don't have a Twitch account, you can create one for free to get started.

Step 3) Setup Twitch for Minecraft

Now that we have logged into the Twitch app, we need to go ahead and click on the 'Mods' button in the menu bar at the top of the screen. Once you're on the Mods tab, here you'll see Minecraft is lit up very, very nicely. It should be the only game lit up here unless you have any of these other games installed. Go ahead and click on 'Minecraft' and then you'll be able to click the purple install button down in the bottom center of the screen. This will install everything that Twitch needs to be able to install modpacks.

Step 4) Install Your FTB or Twitch Modpack

After Twitch is setup for Minecraft, you will be taken off to a page where you can click 'Browse All Modpacks'. Doing so brings you to a page where you can see all of the Minecraft Modpacks that are currently available on the Twitch App. From SkyFactory 4 to FTB Unlimited to StoneBlock, it's all on the Twitch app. You can also search for modpacks from here if there is a specific one that you are looking for. Once you find the modpack you want, hover over it with your cursor. You'll see a purple 'Install' button appear. Click that purple install button, and your Twitch Modpack will begin installing!

Step 5) Launching Your Twitch Modpack

When your modpack is done installing, it is very easy to launch it. Just hover over the modpack, and click the purple 'Play' button that shows up on it. This will open up the Minecraft launcher. You will need to login to the Minecraft launcher using the same login info that you use for the normal Minecraft launcher. This is because the Twitch app uses the normal Minecraft launcher to run and play your modpack.

Step 6) Adding More RAM to Your Modpack

Many Twitch modpacks will need more RAM added to them in order to work correctly. Luckily, this process is the same with any modpack on Twitch, and even the same as the default Minecraft launcher. The process of figuring out how much RAM you actually need and can dedicate to your Minecraft is an entire topic in and of itself. Thus, we have a video which you can check out by clicking here. It is also embedded on this page above.

Step 7) Playing Your Modpack

You have now downloaded the Twitch App, installed it, set it up for Minecraft, and installed a Modpack with the Twitch App. Now, all you need to is actually play your modpack. To do this click the 'versions' tab at the top of the Minecraft launcher. You will then see a version that has a name mention your modpack. Hover over it, and click the green 'Play' button that appears to right side of the launcher on the version. Now, your modpack will launch right on up! This make take 10-30 minutes on your first startup.
